"An acclimatization day allows for an excursion to Thame and Khumjung, the green village"

Visiting:         Around Namche

This is the first of the two days set aside for "acclimatization". Health experts recommend us to stay active and moving during the rest day too instead of being idle. We either spend the day taking a day's hike to Everest view Hotel (3880 meter/) or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. Namche Bazaar is the main center of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us to properly acclimatize. Our guides take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park, where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region.

Acclimatize in Dingboche, with an optional acclimatization hike to the NangkarTshang (approx. 5016 meters and about 3 to 4 hours round trip).

We spend our second day of acclimatization at Dingboche. A refreshing breakfast while admiring a looming AmaDablam (6856m/ 22493 ft.) to the south is really fantastic. To better appreciate Mt AmaDablam, Mt Lhotse and numerous other peaks visible from Dingboche, we climb the ridge on the north behind the village. This will be an ideal acclimatizing excursion. Upon this juncture, we can see three of the world's six highest peaks, Mt Lhotse, Mt Makalu and Mt Cho Yu. To the west, loom the towering peaks of Cholatse (6440 m/21,126 ft.) and Tawoche (6542 m/ 21,463 ft.). As we look northwest, we see an array of peaks rising at the head of the KhumbuKhola valley. The Lobuche West and Lobuche East peaks are most dominant along with Lhotse, which stands over 8500 meters (8501m/27, 890 ft.). Painted on the four sides of the spire's base are the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. It is 3 km west of Kathmandu city and is situated on a hillock about 77m above the level of the Kathmandu valley and hence commands an excellent view of the valley. This stupa is the oldest of its kind. It was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument List in 1979.The unique architecture of Swayambhunath is one of the most easily recognizable symbols of Nepal. From here one can enjoy a spectacular view of Kathmandu City. Legend says that in ancient times the valley was a lake and it was known as the serpent's lake. Saint Manjushree cut the southern part of the valley and drained the water out. The Swayambhunath was the first exit and became the most important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. After sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath, we will continue to drive to our next destination site Kathmandu Durbar Square, the drive is approximately about 20 minutes. Duly recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO, this particular area best known as Kathmandu Durbar Squares lies in the heart of this city. The locals know this area by its old name "Hanuman Dhoka" palace square an ancient seat of the Nepalese Royalty. The Hanuman Dhoka Palace complex consists of a huge Royal Square exposing a tremendous variety of temples Dedicated to different Hindus gods and goddess. Most of the buildings we see here date from 15th to 17th Century. After spending an hour in Durbar Square,Then  BoudhanathStupaBodnath was probably built in the 14th century after the Mughal invasions; various interesting legends are told regarding the reasons for its construction. After the arrival of thousands of Tibetans following the 1959 Chinese invasion, the temple has become one of the most important centers of Tibetan Buddhism. Today it remains an important place of pilgrimage and meditation for Tibetan Buddhists and local Nepalis, as well as a popular tourist site. After spending an hour in BoudhanathStupaThen  PashupatinathTemple:Located 5km east of Kathmandu city, Pashupatinath temple is considered to be one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to the Lord Shiva. The main temple itself is built in pagoda style with gilded roof and richly carved silver doors and it is situated on the west banks of the Bagmati River. And along the west bank of the riveris also the cremation ground. Visitors are permitted to view the temple from the east bank of the river only as the entrance into the temple is strictly prohibited to all Non-Hindus. Pashupatinath is the centre of annual pilgrimage on the day of the Shivaratri (birthday of Lord Shiva) festival which usually takes place. After Spending an hour in Pashupatinath Temple, Then Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a conglomeration of pagoda and shikhara style temples grouped around a fifty-five window palace of brick and wood. The square is one of the most charming architectural showpieces of the Valley as it highlights the ancient arts of Nepal. The golden effigies of kings perched on the top of stone monoliths, the guardian deities looking out from their sanctuaries, the wood carvings in every place-strut, lintels, uprights, tympanums, gateways and windows, all seem to form a well orchestrated symphony back to Thamel  and Free time for shoppingOvernight at the Hotel.  Overnight at the Hotel
